Kelvin Mbote is our star of the month!
Kelvin is one of our key nurses to have helped catapult the beginning of PRECISE Dyad in the Mariakani site. Kelvin has been carrying out mental health and cardiac assessments as well as evaluation of child neurodevelopment using the MDAT tool. Kelvin has also been instrumental in delivering peer training to other nurses at the site.
A typical day for Kelvin includes carrying out the following roles:- Data collection especially dealing with mothers health and child general health, cardiac assessment of participants one year after giving birth, mental health assessment of participants, child neurological assessment, referral of mothers and children when needed and training of colleagues.
Extra roles Kelvin performs include – coordinating the daily PRECISE DYAD activities at Mariakani, ensuring videos are done and uploaded daily, reimbursement of participants, and data cleaning.
His work ethic for PRECISE-DYAD is drawn from the bible in the book of Colossians 3.23 – 24 which says, “And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”.
Marvin Ochieng- Clinic lead Mariakani – “Kelvin deserves to be the star of month. He’s the best team player that I’ve ever met, and I love the fact that he’s too hilarious as well.”
Onesmus Wanje Community Liaison office – “It’s never a dull day in the office when Kelvin is around. He has a unique talent of bringing positive energy to the team.”
Moses Mukhanya –Data Manager “ Kelvin is a team player in terms of mobilizing his fellow staff to resolve data queries that arise after data collection. He works closely with the data team to ensure data quality checks are carried out immediately after data collection is complete on a daily basis. He is one of the staff members whose data quality I do not doubt.”
