The PRECISE-DYAD team the Gambia submitted an entry in the Lancet Highlights Photography competition in 2021 and was selected as one of the winning images.

The PRECISE-DYAD study follows up mothers and their children to investigate their health trajectories in both The Gambia and Kenya.

At each study visit, a range of clinical and non-clinical data are collected from both the mother and child, including anthropometric measurements and clinical readings, as shown in this photo.

Here, two of the Gambian team are taking measurements; the first is measuring the mid-upper arm circumference of the child to help assess the child’s nutritional status, and the second is measuring the child’s haemoglobin concentrations and oxygen saturation.
